I need help with iWebKit for iPad. (Update: Thank you all!)

ipad
I had an iPad, yes I did… Unfortunately it got stolen and thus I have not been able to finish the iPad version I started to make. Now that I’ve moved on with iWebKit 6 I won’t be able to just create an iPad version without an iPad. I will need to copy the interface, colors, elements, sizes etc. And I’ll have to test the javascript performance on it.

My plan would be to add a left menu in a standard iWebKit page that only shows on the iPad. This way less screen estate is lost and you don’t have to make multiple websites for multiple devices. Also i would add some exclusive iPad features like the popup menu and some page styles.

So to be able to make this i would need an iPad, now I am just a student that earns some money through his website to run his server but I really could need some of your help to finance this project. If you want to help me please donate a couple of bucks right here: http://snippetspace.com/support-me/

Thanks and if you have any suggestions please post them here :)

UPDATE:
Thanks to all who donated. I got the money to buy myself an iPad and will soon start to work on integrating it into iWebKit 6.
Don’t thank me thank those who donated :)

  3. Tristan says:

If you have a Mac, you can always become an Apple Developer and download the SDK. It contains an iOS simulator with Mobile Safari. Performance in the simulator is not indicative of a real device however.

  4. yup i know, but… no mac :p.

  5. Colton says:

You could always install mac on your pc if you have an extra partition. If your motherboard and cpu are supported, it can get pretty easy to do. I know the legality is questionable, but if you aren’t afraid then you could load up the sdk on it. You’ll also get hooked on mac and have to make it your next computer.

    Hi Chris,

    Love your work!

It is fast becoming a very useful extension for my work. I am using it to skin my ASP.NET apps – very slick and quick.

As a professional developer I would like to see iPad functionality very soon.

Assuming you have time available from university studies would you even consider taking on the project for payment? How much time do you think you would require to complete iWebKit 6 including iPad functionality? Perhaps some of the other users would like to contribute – I certainly would!

Email me if you would like to discuss.

    Thanks

    Alan

    • Hi and thanks for the offer but my exams just cannot be replaced by this :p

Also I need to figure out how to add a Fixed top bar which is not easy. I cannot work at a regular pace :)

I’m in the same boat as Alan, I’d be willing to contribute. You could use this money to buy some answers for the exams and then you could skip studying and devote more time to this. :)
